Fade Stretch Marks
 by: Nicky Pilkington

Stretch marks are one of the most common skin conditions. Most treatment methods for stretch marks attempt to eliminate the condition altogether. In most cases, these products only fade stretch marks. This means that it will undoubtedly take some time for you to experience results. The good news is that some products are able to fade stretch marks that are old and more set into the skin. Instead of actually treating the skin, these products typically work to change the consistency of the stretch marks. To fade stretch marks, you may want to try one of the two products that claim to fade stretch marks that are both new and old.

Scarguard ScarCare works by providing a protective covering for the stretch marks so that they can heal on their own. The product does, however, contain ingredients that are beneficial for diminishing stretch marks. Vitamin E and silicone are two ingredients in ScarCare that will help fade stretch marks. You apply the product directly to your stretch marks twice each day. You should start to notice an improvement in your stretch marks in less than six months. If you are pregnant, you need to obtain approval from your doctor before using the product.

Scarguard Lightener is another stretch mark treatment product manufactured by Scarguard. This product fades stretch marks by lightening the skin. The product contains 2% hydroquinone, a skin-lightening chemical. If you choose to go with this product you need to also wear a sunscreen. You may experience a darkening of your skin if you apply the product to your skin and spend time in the sun without any sun protection. This product, like ScarCare costs $64.99. The cost is more than the average stretch mark treatment, but then doctors do not endorse the average product for stretch marks. Plastic surgeons use Scarguard products in their practice, so there is a good chance that you will experience success with Scarguard products.

Men and Stretchmarks
 by: Nicky Pilkington

Seeing a man with stretch marks is just as likely as seeing a woman with the skin condition. The only difference is in how they develop the condition. Stretch marks are the result of a hormonal imbalance that affects the skin’s natural production of collagen. The imbalance typically happens to women during pregnancy. While both men and women strength train by lifting weights, a man who lifts weights and has stretch marks is far more common because men typically lift weights to obtain muscle mass. Increasing muscle mass results in a change in the hormonal system.

When you see a man with stretch marks you will typically notice them on his shoulders because this is the area where most of the muscle growth occurs. In both cases presented, the hormonal changes affect the production of collagen that is needed to accommodate the extension of the skin.

Many products that are designed to treat stretch marks are also excellent moisturizer. A man with stretch marks may not be interested in the dual purpose of the product. A product whose main function is to repair the skin and rebuild the collagen stores is Rejuvine Cream. A man with stretch marks will feel comfortable using this product because it is absorbed into the skin quickly. At a cost of nearly $20, Rejuvine is inexpensive in comparison to products with similar benefits.

Another product that is recommended for a man with stretch marks is Mederma. This product has been on the market for several years and many people have reported success with using it, even on old stretch marks. A man with stretch marks may be especially interested in purchasing Mederma because it is typically sold with products for skin ailments, as opposed to other products for stretch marks that are sold with cosmetics. In addition, Mederma does not include feminine fragrance that is also added to products created for treating stretch marks.
